Use your Calendar to ‘annoy yourself’ into getting stuff done

Calendars are the business when it comes to getting stuff done.

There is just no better way to determine your capacity for commitments and work and achieve your tasks.

Really effective

Today I’m sharing a technique that has helped me and certain clients of mine get pesky stuff done. I say ‘certain’ clients because depending on your personality this might not have an effect on you… but you don’t know til you try, so why not give it a go?

What you do is make a calendar event for 8 am to 6 pm (mark it as ‘Free’ so it doesn’t affect people making meeting times in your calendar) and colour code it to something annoyingly loud. Make this event repeat daily. Each day, it’s what you’ll see first thing and all the time until you’ve done it. And when you’ve completed the task you can delete the series. So satisfying!

A client said to me after having tried this technique on numerous tasks for a few months that “it makes me want to get it done and delete that thing out of my calendar because it pisses me off. It’s been really very effective.”

So, what do you think? Will it have an effect on you?

If you need a helpful guide to eliminate overwhelm, book a quick call with me and let’s have a chat about what that might look like.
