Making the bed – Unmade Rebel or a Calm Bed Head?
The other day I didn’t make my bed the moment I got up like I usually do. Every so often I like to think that I could be that person who leaves their bed unmade. But really… getting the bed organised is a must. Sometimes it may feel that it’s not a top priority… but it’s a place of recharging. A place to be still.
At first I did feel slightly rebellious… but it lasted for about 15 minutes before I caved. I kept catching sight of the bed’s ruffled and used appearance and I felt unsorted… unclean almost. Calm returned the moment I tidied up. The flat and decluttered space felt right.
Making up my bed is something I’ve done from an early age. I don’t mind though, I find it rewarding to straighten the sheets and doona out; fluffing the pillows.
It doesn’t take long at all and the benefits go beyond simply tidying up my living space. Studies have shown that having your bed sorted makes you happier because of the sense of control and calm that it offers. There’s nothing better than ticking something off before you’ve even brushed your teeth in the morning! More power to you.
On top of it all, it makes returning to my room pleasant and welcoming throughout the day. And going to bed! Well, it feels like a fresh experience every time; it’s like being hotel ready at home. Pinterest has some great organsing inspo – here’s a few that I’ve collected.
